Class Party !

Class Party! My class came over and I cooked spaghetti, garlic bread, and we ate banana splits for dessert. We talked about customs during this lesson, comparing Javanese Weddings with American weddings. I was able to show them a little of our wedding video as well. The girls said "It is so romantic, I feel like I'm watching a movie in the cinema!"
It was a fun time with my wonderful class!

We just

loved these guys!!! They came for 6 weeks and were such an encouragement to all of us. We tried to convince them to stay with all we could offer but I guess finishing college is a pretty good excuse to return to the U.S. Thanks a million to Oklahoma and Mississipi College for lending your best students!!! And thanks to these students who gave up their summer to serve others!

Places around our City

All these places are on our drive from the EEC to our house. It is very common to see a vendor on the street selling some type of food. This vendor is selling sate ayam. (Chicken on a stick) This is a very delicious light dinner or snack and quite popular among nationals! You also see the huge and rather fancy mall. It's air-conditioned with many coffee shops, truly an oasis!

Game night!

We had some friends join us at the EEC for fun games. Pictionary, I doubt it, Loaded Questions, Dance Dance Revolution, and plenty of Coffee made the night a blast!!!

Lack of a map = catastrophe

Going to a new destination

should feel like a celebration

but when roads take you where you don't want

it is much too likely you'll become distraught

Turn around don't be ashamed 

just go back now from where you came

But signs say no, can't turn a U

guess we'll circle the city a time or two

And look for road signs that don't exist

Just drive slower and we'll get the gist

Watch out for that bike she'll run into you

and if you hit her she will sue.

The problem is familiarity

tricking yourself becomes calamity

Cause you're pretty sure you've been here before 

You think you turn left at that big red door

if only it were like the monopoly game

right turns only and the road is the same

but what fun would city life be

without a missing-map catastrophe?
