Yaay for new friends!  

European Soccer Championship!

This was a very fun and very late night!  We watched the Champions League game Live from Rome.  Josh and I were both rooting for the underdogs, Barcelona.  I made the decision to root for them after finding out that Manchester United won last year.  This game can be compared to the Superbowl in America.  It's huge... You watch it, even if it starts at 1:45 am... you drink some coffee, eat a handful of peanuts, and enjoy the game!!!  Of course Josh does not need an excuse to watch some soccer.  :)

We invited some friends over, watched Nacho Libre (a HIT with the national friends) and played a little dance dance revolution while we waited for the game to start.  DDR was also a HIT with our friends.  We must have gone through 2 entire pots of coffee and 10 packs of instant "3-in-1's"!

Two words for you.....  GO BARCELONA!!!!   

"Double Dare" event

The EEC hosted a game day on Saturday, May 23rd.  Like the popular Nickelodeon family game-show, we called the event "Double Dare".  Pictured is Betty throwing caution to the wind in her team's water relay, and, yes, that's peanut butter on our faces.  The object of one game was to get as many Cheerios to stick to your teammates face when throwing the delicious toasted oats from about a yard away.  No national would volunteer so we got the gig.  (The team of seven from Mississippi College smuggling in the Cheerios in from America.)  Also pictured is the bottom floor of the EEC, the roof, and the view from the roof.  The motorbikes (sepeda motor) belong to the students who participated.  It was a very fun afternoon.  We made several new friends and strengthened our relationship with existing ones.  Some of the new friends attended the EEC Chat Room (Mon.-Thur., 1-5pm)!

Seven dollars for two meals at McDonalds starts sounding expensive.

You go to three different stores to buy ingredients for a chicken casserole.

It's pretty typical for friends to show up at least 30 minutes late anywhere.

Language School

Here are some pictures of our language school.  It's on the second floor of a building, above "Giant," a grocery store.  We're here every Monday through Thursday from 9:00am-12:00pm.  On Monday (5/18) we finished the first of three units!

Home Sweet Home!!!

This is our Asia house!  We love it and are 

very blessed to live here.  Josh said the other day "Let's go home,"  and for the first time since coming to Asia, it felt like we were at home.  Huge answer to pryr!  Notice our luxurious bathroom and laundry facilities.  We (Betty mostly) climbs those steep stairs to hang our laundry to dry.  In other photos you'll see our green Toyota Kijang, an urban creek a block behind our house, and the banana and mango tree directly across the street.  On my walk around the neighborhood this afternoon, I discovered four laundry and dry cleaning businesses - and it's a small neighborhood!

Retreat weekend

We went with the national staff to Trewas, a town 1 1/2 hours away up in the (cool) mountains.  It was absolutely beautiful!

We also really enjoyed the weather!  You can imagine how it reminded us of the Creator!
